Beta Systems: The district savings bank of Ludwigshafen on the Rhine targets paperless document processing with VIDiDOC

  • VIDiDOC Information Integrator from Beta Systems as central software tool
  • Pilot application successfully concluded / 200 licenses purchased
  • Savings of 200,000 pages of paper per month expected

Berlin/Ludwigshafen on the Rhine, July 3, 2001 - Beta Systems Software AG, Berlin, a leading vendor of high performance software for IT management, today announced the closing of a contract with the District Savings Bank of Ludwigshafen on the Rhine for licenses and maintenance of its document management system VIDiDOC Information Integrator for 200 client workstations. The District Savings Bank of Ludwigshafen on the Rhine will use the client/server software as its central software tool in its current internal IT restructuring project "Back Office", aimed at the integration of all its existing IT applications.
VIDiDOC Information Integrator was tested in a pilot project in three branch offices of various sizes and involved the time-critical processing of overdraft lists. These lists are transmitted electronically every day to the Bank from its central IT service provider, printed out at the head office and distributed by courier to all branch offices where they are processed manually and archived. By using the new software, the entire processing process could be completely digitalized and processing time thus significantly reduced. In the future, the overdraft list will be delivered to the branch offices in electronic form. A mask specifically developed for online processing of these lists considerably eases the evaluation of the list's content and therefore also significantly shortens the process.
Based on its positive experiences, the District Savings Bank of Ludwigshafen on the Rhine will now install VIDiDOC Clients in all 21 branch offices as well as in all departments of its main branch and thus establish the foundation for successively digitalizing the processing of all lists and to automate it as far as possible.
"With the implementation of the VIDiDOC software, we are now in a position to integrate existing applications into one software platform and thus offer our users a comfortable, uniform process using a standardized user interface," says Klaus Wenchel, EDP Director of the District Savings Bank of Ludwigshafen on the Rhine, describing the goal of the software introduction.
Each month, the District Savings Bank of Ludwigshafen on the Rhine prints out approximately 200,000 pages of lists from its host computer. At present, it is planned to execute the annual accounts processing in parallel operation (print and electronic) and to gradually replace all existing paper lists with electronic documents during the course of 2002 in coordination with the user departments and auditing office.
