Zaher Albaroudi

Software Engineer

Zaher started at Beta Systems in 2019 as an apprentice specializing in software development. After completing his training in 2022, he worked as a Full-Stack Developer, contributing to the development of the customer and management portals. He then joined the Shared Platform Service, focusing on infrastructure topics such as Terraform, Helm, AWS, and deployments, and also supported the Beta Design Team. Zaher also took part in the creaton of the MVP LogNow (now ANOW! Observe) and is currently dedicated to developing and implementing the application. In addition to coding and architectural work, he supports his colleagues across different domains to drive the product forward.

Why did you choose Beta Systems?

I decided to work at Beta Systems because I felt a certain sympathy for the company’s atmosphere while researching online. This impression was confirmed during my job interview. Also, I wanted to learn more about mainframe systems.

What are your tasks at Beta Systems?

I mainly work as a software developer for the customer portal. Currently, I’m working as a full-stack developer, focusing on building the cloud environment using an infrastructure-as-code language.

What does a typical working day look like for you?

My workday usually starts around 9 a.m. I stay focused until my tasks are done. I especially enjoy challenges – the more complex a task is, the more engaged I become. When I finish for the day mostly depends on how complex the challenge is, but usually it’s around 5 p.m.

Office or home office?

Tough question. I’m definitely more productive at home. I remember continuing tasks at home during my training because I couldn't concentrate properly in the office. I’d say four days working from home and one day at the office for coordination would be ideal.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy developing something from scratch – from start to finish. But it’s also important to me that what I build actually gets used. In general, I really enjoy development. I love the challenge.

What do you particularly appreciate about your colleagues?

They’re friendly and helpful. They switch to English for me when I don’t understand something in German – even in larger group settings.

What qualities do you need for a job in your field? What challenges are there?

I think it comes down to motivation, logical thinking, and sometimes patience – because even a single line of code can cause problems. Anyone can succeed in this job if they enjoy challenges and problem-solving.

What do you like best about Beta Systems as an employer?

What I appreciate most about Beta Systems is the pleasant working atmosphere. There’s a sense of trust, and I really enjoy working with my colleagues.

What three words would you use to describe Beta Systems?

Atmosphere, trustworthiness, collaboration.
