Faster, more modern, more efficient: IVV migrates from mainframe to distributed systems with Beta DocX

The ivv GmbH, an IT service provider for insurance companies, was faced with the challenge of replacing its previous mainframe-based systems and at the same time building a future-proof IT solution. Together with Beta Systems, a comprehensive migration project was implemented, which aimed not only to modernize the IT infrastructure, but also to reduce costs in the long term and significantly optimize work processes.

Informationsverarbeitung für Versicherungen GmbH (IVV) has been a full-service IT service provider based in Hanover since 1993. It develops and operates tailor-made solutions for large all-line insurers. Around 1,200 employees were trained on Beta DocX as part of the project, and today around 500 active users are already working with the new systems.

Challenges and success factors

The implementation of the project presented a number of challenges. Much of the know-how about the old system was lost due to the retirement of experienced mainframe employees. In addition, there was a shortage of staff, which made the project possible only through close cooperation with Beta Systems. Replacing the print data streams was highly complex, as they had to be completely reintegrated into the new architecture.

Despite this initial situation, the migration was successful. With Beta DocX and Beta View, IVV now benefits from a modern platform that offers immediate advantages to its users. Documents and archived content are available much faster, the new user interface is perceived as intuitive and user-friendly, and the advanced search and analysis functions make daily use much easier. In addition, the project led to a noticeable reduction in paper consumption, as print jobs were greatly reduced. The established security concept was also successfully transferred to the new environment and adapted to modern requirements.

Positive conclusion and a look into the future

The switch to the new interface was received very positively by the employees. Many saw the new interface not only as a technical improvement, but also as a simplification of their everyday work. The migration brought more transparency to the systems and ensured significantly more efficient processes.

With the support of Beta Systems, IVV has successfully initiated the modernization of its IT. The migration to Beta DocX and Beta View increases efficiency in day-to-day business, reduces costs and increases the stability of the systems – a milestone towards future-proofing.
